Volunteer Duties | Program Docent Program Docents help lead farm tours especially for large groups of students. Docents receive training to lead all of our field trip activity stations and learn tips and tricks for educating kids in an outdoor setting. During a field trip docents are either responsible for running one station four times with 12-15 kids, or all four stations with the same 12-15 kids all morning. Field trips are currently offered on Monday and Friday Mornings September through Thanksgiving and April through the end of the school year. Garden Docent Garden Docents help maintain our 1/3 acre Discovery Garden and surrounding Discovery Fields. With help and training from our staff, docents prepare beds, plant, harvest, propagate, mulch paths, and occasionally work with students in our educational spaces. Garden Docents are also welcome to join training sessions for Program Docents to learn our activities and outdoor education tips and tricks. Event Docent Event Docents act as ambassadors of our farm, lead learning stations, collect parking fees, set-up and clean-up during our 4 annual community events in March, June, September, and October. Photographers/Bloggers Photographs are an important tool for telling our story. We need photographers to take photos of our farm tours and events. The subject matter is inspiring and easy to make look good. Who doesn’t love babies in vegetable patches, farm animals and glorious natural landscapes? We would welcome as many volunteers as are interested in helping us record our achievements. |
