Are you looking for something fun to do over the summer? Do you enjoy working with children?

Founded in 1999, The Painted Turtle is a year long camp that serves children with chronic and life threatening illnesses. This organization offers a multitude of individually catered programs that allows for children with medical conditions to experience camp. The main goal of The Painted Turtle is to provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment in order to build a sense of community between those in the camp. The program also extends to entire families during the fall and spring family weekends. The Painted Turtle has has served thousands of campers and families with conditions such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, rheumatic diseases, kidney disease and many more. There are a multitude of ways to get involved such as paid summer staff positions, counselor and medical volunteer roles, paid summer positions, and full time work positions.

Volunteers must be at least 19 years of age and will be provided with housing and meals during their time at the camp. They can serve as cabin counselors or as family pals over the weekend and will assist in helping campers with different activities some of which include: wheelchair-accessible ropes course, archery, arts & crafts, horseback riding, fishing, and boating.
