What is it?

During the 2019 fall quarter, SVC hosts its annual Meal Plan and Flexi Dollar Drive in conjunction with University Dining Services. During the drive, UCSC students have the opportunity to donate their unused meals and flexi dollars to the Second Harvest Food Bank. This organization uses these donations to purchase food for Santa Cruz and San Benito County families. Holidays last the season; hunger lasts yearlong. For every meal donated during the drive, the Second Harvest Food Bank distributed 10 meals worth of food to our community. $1 feeds a family of 4. Second Harvest is also one of the suppliers for UCSC's on-campus food pantries, which any UCSC student can utilize.

What can I donate?

Students with 5-day or 7-day meal plan can donate all four of their guest meal passes! Slug Club Card holders and 55 swipe meal plan holders can donate up to 10 meals at the dining hall registers. All students can donate up to $25 of flexis in $5 increments. Don’t want to give up your meals and flexis? No problem! Donation bins will be distributed among each college for any canned foods! Remember, unused meals do not roll over to the next quarter.

Where can I donate?

Students with a 5, 7, or 55-meal plan are able to donate at all 5 UCSC dining halls or online at the link above! Slug Club card holders can only donate in person at the register. You can also drop off canned food or other nonperishable items to designated pantry bins around campus.

Meal plan holders can also donate meals and flexi dollars at our online site, It's quick and easy!
